an open letter to a cool chick

Dear Banana Fish, aka my wonderful secret pal,
I have a story for you.
I've been teaching my roommate to knit. She's cute and all...a little obsessive but cute. One night, I let her into my room to look at my stash. I told her to see if there was something she'd like to knit with while she's getting into the swing of things.
I thought maybe a pretty yarn would convince her to stop making swatch after swatch and start actually knitting something. (Anything, really...)
She looked and poked and played for a while, then pulled out a skein of the wonderful turquoise yarn you sent me! She saw the look on my face as she pulled it out and hastily stuffed it back in the crate, apologizing profusely. I asked why she did that; and she said it looked like she'd pulled out my best, most expensive dress and asked to wear it to a mud fight.
It's really selfish, but I'm glad she put the yarn back! I have the coolest project in mind for it, and I can't wait to get started. You picked out something seriously cool!
Thank you so much. The chocolate has kept me sane, the toothbrush makes Hannah and I smile every time we see it, and the yarn, oh the yarn!
You have great taste!
